The mission of the Clatsop County Firefighters Association is to offer and coordinate fire and EMS training opportunities and events; to promote county-wide fire safety and prevention activities; and to facilitate and promote camaraderie, cooperation, and professionalism between the dedicated fire service organizations that serve and protect the Citizens of Clatsop County.

Spring Recruit Academy Coming Up!

The Spring Recruit Academy is quickly approaching! Feb. 8, 15, 18, & 19, 2017 and March 1, 4, 5, 15, 18, & 19, 2017. Location to be announced.  

Know anyone who would like to join a fire department?! All departments are looking for new members! Encourage a friend, a family member, a neighbor to join their local volunteer fire department!

Meeting Tonight and Some Website Updates

A quick reminder we have an Association meeting tonight at Gearhart Fire. Dinner starts at 1830 and our meeting starts after the conclusion of dinner.

Our ID card program is up and running. You can find information on that process HERE.

We've updated the training links to include a NEW (to us at least) HAZMAT Awareness program. It can be accessed HERE.

Internship Opportunity in Astoria

The Astoria Fire Department is now accepting applications for internships. Applications will be accepted until 25 March 2015.

Benefits Include:

  • Paid College Tuition
  • Hands on Fire Experience
  • A $350 Monthly Stipend
  • Free Housing

Requirements:

  • Must be at-least 17 years old to apply and 18 years of age by 1 September 2015
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must pass an application, written, physical, and oral interview process.

The County Training Committee has released it's "Tentative Final Draft" of the 2015 training calendar.  You may have noticed we have started to add dates to our Training Calendar.

Remember, many of our classes fill quickly so register early!

CCFA November Meeting

Our meeting was held on 1 December 2015 and was hosted by Olney Fire.  If you were unable to attend you missed an outstanding meal of salmon!

Our next meeting will be hosted by Clatsop Community College's Fire Science Department at the CCC MERTS Campus on 26 January 2015.

We also had a CCFA meeting on Monday, December 1st, hosted by Olney.  At the meeting we began the process of electing new officers.  Their contact information is available on the "Contact Us" page.

Website Updates and a Big Thank You!

At last night's CCFA meeting at Astoria Fire it was suggested that we add contacts to the website.  That suggestion has been completed.  You can now find CCFA contacts under the "Contact Us" link.

Also a big thank you to AFD for the excellent dinner at our CCFA meeting.

Also thank you to everyone who attended our meeting.

Our next meeting will be December 1st in Olney. 

County Fair and Coloring Contest

The Clatsop County Fair is the end of this month (July 28-August 2).  As always the Clatsop County Firefighters Association will be an active presence at the fair.  We will be having our usual activities (fire safety house, public education, and general recruitment).  This year we will also be hosting a coloring contest for the kids.  Download the coloring page HERE.  Bring it to the fair and possibly win a prize!

6-2-2014 CCFA Meeting

We had a great meeting in Knappa on Monday.  A big thank you to Fire Chief Paul Olheiser who prepared an excellent dinner for everyone.

We had a very nice presentations on firefighter safety and the new website.  We also discussed possibilities, budget, and logistics on a countywide volunteer recruitment video.

The membership also approved payment on the following items:

  • Printing costs for the upcoming codes class.
  • Paying for the new website.
  • Electronic measuring devices for the FIT.

Minutes will be posted here as soon as they are typed out and published.

Clatsop Community College Hosts "Cadet Days"

On May 15th and 16th the Clastop Community College Fire Science program hosted over 100 instructors and students from the Washington side of the Columbia River.  Cadet Days is a two day event that features live fire, truck operations, wildland, search and rescue, and night operations geared towards introducing high school students to the world of firefighting.
